The Vintage and Warbirds mailing list is hosted by Yahoo Groups and is one of the earliest groups that was set up to provide an e-mail forum on this subject. The list currently has over 650 members subscribed to it.

Topics covered include anything to do with vintage and warbird aircraft, be they flying, static display or derelict. We do not stick strictly to the age definitions for vintage aircraft and generally anything produced before the 70s is OK for inclusion in the list. Newer aircraft may also be counted, if they have been retired to a museum.

As far as warbirds go, we consider any ex military aircraft that is now in civilian hands or still with the military, but retired and on display or operated by a historic flight as a warbird.

We also are a forum for history too, so questions about older aircraft which may not have lasted long enough to become "Vintage or Warbird" are still quite welcome.

In an effort to combat virus or spam posts we do not allow attachments to our posts and new members are signed up on a moderated setting which allows us to catch any spam before it gets out to the general list. That said, we still allow some spam as long as it is on topic and not repeated too often (i.e. - it is fine to post a bit about your website, but tell us something about it or include details as a footer to your other mails when you post other information - don't just send an e-mail once a week stating check out the updates at Bloggs Aviation Site).

For those of you who are new to on-line mailing lists, they are a forum which you can sign up to and whenever you or another member of the list posts an e-mail to it, that e-mail is then sent out to the other members of the list. You can have it set up to receive each individual e-mail or sent out in a daily digest of the posts which have been sent that day.

We do have a complementary list running to post photographs and a sign up box to join this is located further down this page. When joining this, you will need to keep the settings set at "Individual mails" as Yahoo does not include photographs with the Daily Digest.
