This museum mainly concentrates on ships, however it does also cover maritime aviation and has a Westland Wessex helicopter in its collection.

The Australian War Memorial holds an extensive collection of military artifacts and has extensive displays. Included in this collection is an aircraft hall with displays ranging from WWI up to the present day.

Australias's Museum of Flight is located near the entrance to H.M.A.S. Albatros, the Royal Australian Navy Fleet Air rms home base. The museum originally started out as the Australian Naval Aviation Museum and holds an extensive collection of aircraft and artifacts covering the history of Australian Naval Aviation. In more recent years a change of policy and name saw the museum expand its area of interest to encompass all Australian aviation history. Many of the aircraft are displayed under cover in a large purpose built didplay building. The museum also features a restaraunt and open air viewing platform where visitors may look out over the runways and tarmac of the Naval Air Station.

The Aviation Heritage Centre is operated by the Aviation Historical Society of the Northern Territory. The museum has aircraft and memorabilia relating to many events including many of the record breaking flights which occurred in the 20's and 30's, W.W.II and the post war period. Aircraft types held by the museum include the Mirage, B-52, Sabre, Mitchell, Dove, Commander, Wessex Spitfire (Replica) and portions of various other aircraft.

The museum was built as a memorial to Captain Horrie Miller who was a founder of MacRobertson Miller Airlines. It contains a CAC Wackett Trainer.
This museum was a small one man operation based oout of Hallam, Victoria. The collection consisted of a Dove and various memorabilia. The owner was intending to move overseas. It appears to no longer be in existance.

Moorabbin Air Museum is operated by the Australian Aircraft Restoration Group and has been open to the public at its current site at Moorabbin Airport (Harry Hawker Airport) since the early 60's. It was one of the first private aviation museums in Australia. The museums main theme concentrates on Australian designed or built aircraft, however there are a number of other types which have also served in Australia which form part of the display. The museum is open daily and contains over 40 aircraft and a wide range of other memorabilia.
Types of aircraft on display include the Wirraway, Ceres, Mirage, Beaufighter, Gannet, Firefly, Meteor, Sabre, DC-3, Tiger Moth, Vampire, Gipsy Moth, Sea Venom, Sycamore, Viscount and many more.

The Queensland Air Museum was formed during June 1974 and has been steadily expanding ever since. It has a fair range of aircraft, engines and memorabilia which have come from a wide range of sources and locations. (Three aircraft were even recovered by Queensland Air Museum members from Singapore). Types held by the museum include Canberra, Meteor, Vampire, Sea Venom, Drover, Dove, Piaggio P.166, Nomad, Tracker, Sea Vixen, Hunter, DC-3, Gannet and a Bristol Scout (Replica).

The RAAF Museum is located on RAAF Williams (South) which is at Point Cook and was the birth place of the RAAF and its predecessor, the Australian Flying Corps back in early 1914. The museum houses the largest collection of museum aircraft in the southern hemisphere and also has a large range of memorabilia on display. Many of the aircraft are contained indoors and visitors to the museum may also watch restoration work being carried out on some of the museums aircraft from a viewing platform which is provided in one of the restoration and maintenance hangars. Aircraft which are on display include the Mirage, Phantom, Sabre, Meteor, Vampire, Pika, Jindavik, Wirraway, Mustang, Boomerang, Shorthorn, S-51, Iroquois, CT-4, Harvard, Winjeel and many more.

The park was officially opened on the 19th of September, 1999 and contains the remains of a CAC Wirraway engine (R1340) which crashed during W.W.II. It also has boards giving a brief outline of the history of the base and a list of personnel who passed through the training school and who perished with no known graves.

The museum is located at the entrance to the RAAF Base on the Sturt Highway at Forest Hill (Approx 13 km from Wagga Wagga). The museum is open most days of the year between 10.00am and 4.00pm (may be closed for lunch). It features a display of memorabilia and photographs relating to the history of the RAAF, particualarly in the Riverina region of Australia. The display also features several aircraft including a Canberra, Meteor, Winjeel, Sabre and Mirage.Entry is free.

The Sir Reginald Ansett Transport Museum was started to preserve the history of the Ansett Company and promote it's beginnings in Hamilton. The museum is located in the original Ansett Hangar and features a Fokker Universal and a wide range of memorabilia. The museum was also planning to include coverage of other Australian achievers.

The South Australian Aviation Museum has a wide range of exhibits including aircraft, aero engines, memorabilia and a substantial collection of rockets and missiles. The museum regularly carry out engine runs of a number of the engines in their collection at prearranged dates.
Aircraft in the collection include Avro Anson, deHavilland Sea Venom, Vampire, Gipsy Moth and Chipmunk, Aerocommander, Moni Glider, Fokker Triplane (Static Replica), Douglas Dakota, Westland Wessex and English Electric Canberra.

Located at Brooklyn Park, a suburb of Adelaide, the West Torrens Railway Signal/Telegraph and Aviation Museum houses a wide range of equipment relating to railways, aviation and communication. The museum is located in the old council chambers and work began on setting it up in 1992.
The museum houses a number of rooms dedicated to aviation. These include the Aviation Pioneers room, Royal Flying Doctor Service room and the RAAF Memorial room. The museum also houses an extensive library and a large collection of navaids and aviation related electronic equipment.
The museum is open each Sunday from 1.00 pm to 4.30 pm and may be viewed at other times by prior arrangement. (Current Oct 1999). There is a small entry fee.
This museum has closed.
Located at Woomera, South Australia, the museum tells the story of the Woomera Rocket Range and contains several aircraft and rockets on external display and a fair range of memorabilia inside.
